Santa Maddalena Writers’ Retreat, Florence

Nearly three weeks at this wonderful place  enabled me to finish the draft of my novel, Other States, Other Lives. I went back a fortnight later to attend the connected Festival, that celebrates literature translated into Italian, the Premerio Gregor Von Rezzori.

At Santa Maddalena I reviewed Kamila Shamsie’s novel A God in Every Stone for Wasafiri, which was also written at the Retreat.
