ANTHOLOGY OF LUST AND EROTICA
BY ARAB WOMEN
OPEN CALL SUBMISSION
Are you a female writer of Arab heritage over 18 years of age who hasn’t published a book length work of fiction yet?
Can you write poetry or prose on the subject of lust and erotica?
We’re compiling an anthology of lust and erotica, written by women of Arab heritage. Including poetry and prose from the classical and modern periods, the anthology will span a period of over 2,000 years, with some classical pieces being made available in English for the first time. We are also issuing an Open Call for writers who would like to be a part of this book and see their work published alongside established authors. The collection will be published by Saqi Books in February 2021.
The Open Call seeks poetry or prose of no longer than 2,000 words in length. Chosen Entrants will be paid a fee of £200 if their work is selected for publication.
The writing included will be published in English, but the pieces will have been originally written in Arabic, French or English.
What we are looking for
We’re looking to create a book that feels intimate and sensual. There should be the sense of eavesdropping on confessions made to friends, or intercepting communications between lovers. This collection will showcase how literature can be used to depict and calibrate the private, the immodest and the sexy with artistry and imagination.
The writing you submit can be funny, poignant, impassioned, reflective, ironic or bemused. It can be set in any time period, anywhere in the world. We want to read whoever you want to write – the young, old, gay, straight, domineering, submissive. The dressed up and the naked – erotic moments alone, or with others. Sex can be a game as much of the mind as it is of the body and it is the interplay of personalities and situations that brings the finest erotic writing alive.
If you feel that this is for you, we would love to receive your work. Please submit your writing for consideration using the online form below.
